معرفی
Constantin Piron was a Swiss banker and amateur pianist based in Brussels. He served as a lecturer at the Institut des Hautes Études de Belgique, where he delivered a seminal 1920 talk introducing Igor Stravinsky’s music to Brussels. His contributions to musicology include curating significant historical collections and authoring L'art du Piano (1949), a piano method book with a preface by Marguerite Long.
During WWII, he preserved an 18th-century French music collection in Semur-en-Auxois, later donated to the Conservatoire royal de Bruxelles. This collection of over 400 works by 90 composers illuminates provincial musical life in 18th-century France. His correspondence appears in the Royal Library of Belgium’s 1914 soldier archives. Piron also collaborated with notable musicians like Paul Collaer and accompanied Stravinsky’s early Brussels performances.
