Colleen Brooks is a Teaching Professor in the Music Department at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, specializing in vocal performance and opera theatre. She has been a faculty member since 2013, teaching voice at both undergraduate and graduate levels. Her academic background includes a DMA in Vocal Performance from the Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, an MM from Indiana University, and dual BS degrees in Vocal Performance and Biochemistry from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
Dr. Brooks is an accomplished performer with roles in North America, Europe, and Asia. Notable performances include Rusalka (Ježibaba), The Snow Dragon (world/Thailand premieres), and Songbird with Florentine Opera. She has collaborated with composers such as William Bolcom and Jake Heggie and participated in prestigious programs like the Merola Opera Program. Her 2024-25 season includes soloist roles with the Milwaukee Mandolin Orchestra and Milwaukee Opera Theatre.
Award-winning, she holds the 2009 Wisconsin District Win in the Metropolitan Opera Competition. Her work bridges classical and contemporary operatic traditions, emphasizing vocal pedagogy and interdisciplinary artistry.
