Professor Colin Turner is the Pro Vice-Chancellor and Executive Dean of the Faculty of Computing, Engineering and the Built Environment at Ulster University. With a background in Pure Mathematics, he has held leadership roles including Head of the School of Engineering (2010-2018) and Director of the Centre for Higher Education Research and Practice (CHERP). His work bridges mathematics, software development, and cardiovascular medicine, with a focus on open-source methodologies and educational technology.

- National Teaching Fellow (NTF), Fellow of FIMA, FIET, FBCS, and Chartered Engineer/Mathematician
His research spans cardiovascular diagnostics (ECG analysis, defibrillators), inverse potential models, and open-source software for education. Colin led pandemic-era learning innovations and developed systems for curriculum management, placement allocation, and assessment approval. He champions student-led initiatives and has twice received the University’s Distinguished Learning Support Fellowship.
Recent publications highlight his interdisciplinary work in biomedical digital signal processing, semiconductor testing, and software engineering. His contributions align with UN Sustainable Development Goals for Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure.
