Colette Southam is an Associate Professor at Bond Business School, Bond University, and an Adjunct Associate Professor at Ivey Business School, Western University, Canada. She teaches International Finance, International Financial Management, and Mergers & Acquisitions. Her research focuses on international and corporate finance, including capital market segmentation, cross-listing effects, IPO dynamics, and carbon valuation. She leads an Australian Office of Learning and Teaching project enhancing business graduate employability via the Australian Business Case Network. Previously, she taught at Ivey across undergraduate, Executive MBA, and PhD programs.
Education: PhD in Finance from Western University (2006), specializing in Information Asymmetry in Executive Labour and IPO Markets.
Research interests span IPO performance, global diversification, carbon sequestration technologies, and sustainable business practices. She collaborates on a cross-disciplinary project assessing carbon mineralization potential at diamond mines. Recent work includes ESG reporting frameworks, ecotourism recovery post-bushfires, and teaching methodology innovations.
Professional activities include conference participation (e.g., AFAANZ 2020), media contributions on carbon-neutral mining, and case study development for business education. She currently accepts PhD students focusing on IPO dynamics or carbon economics.
Key collaborations involve Ivey Business School, the Australian Government’s AUASB Sustainability Assurance projects, and interdisciplinary teams on environmental finance.
