Colette Morrow serves as Professor of English and Director of Women’s, Gender and Sexuality Studies at Purdue University Northwest. A former president of the National Women’s Studies Association (NWSA), she significantly shaped the field through editorial leadership of Feminist Formations’ Retrospective Book Series featuring five anthologies from Johns Hopkins University Press.
Education:
- Ph.D. in English, Texas Christian University, Ft. Worth
Her research centers on feminist scholarship with emphases on gender representation in global contexts, postcolonial literature, and cinematic studies. She examines intersections of culture, power, and sexuality across Eastern and South Asian frameworks while analyzing systemic barriers for women in international labor markets through interdisciplinary lenses combining literary criticism and sociological analysis.
Recent publications reveal consistent focus on transnational feminist discourse, with 2017’s Unveiling Desire exploring Eastern cultural narratives and 2012’s Getting in Is Not Enough dissecting workplace inequities. These works demonstrate methodological rigor in connecting literary representation to real-world gender dynamics across geopolitical boundaries.
Scientific Awards:
- Fulbright Scholar
Morrow leverages her Fulbright Scholar status to develop Women’s, Gender and Sexuality Studies curricula across Eastern Europe and South Asia, securing international grants for program implementation. Her NWSA presidency and editorial work for Feminist Formations reflect sustained institutional leadership in advancing feminist academic infrastructure globally.
