Coby Harmon serves as an Adjunct Instructor of Financial Accounting at Westmont College, where he has taught since 2009 while maintaining a part-time academic appointment. He previously taught accounting at UC Santa Barbara for 28 years and held administrative roles within their Accounting Program. His professional foundation includes public accounting experience with Arthur Andersen & Co. in Los Angeles and Tulsa, followed by Bartlett, Pringle and Wolf in Santa Barbara.
Harmon earned his undergraduate degree from UC Santa Barbara and maintains active certification as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA). His educational trajectory bridges professional practice with academic instruction, emphasizing real-world application in accounting education.
His expertise spans multiple accounting disciplines with particular depth in Financial Accounting, Managerial and Cost Accounting, Auditing, and advanced topics like Financial Analysis and Earnings Management. At Westmont, he significantly expanded the curriculum to include specialized courses in these areas.
Harmon contributes to accounting education through published teaching supplements for major textbooks, enhancing pedagogical resources across the field. His office is located in Deane Hall 102 at Westmont College and available by appointment.
