Dr. Cloud Cao is an Associate Professor in the Psychiatry Department at the University of Alberta's Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry. As Canada Research Chair in Computational Psychiatry, he directs research using machine learning and health data to predict and improve outcomes for mental and substance use disorders.
Research combines computational neuroscience, neuroimaging, and electronic health records to develop precision medicine approaches. Key interests include predictive modeling of mental disorders and understanding mental-physical health interactions during aging. Recent publications focus on AI terminology standardization, automated data analysis tools, and anxiety prediction in aging populations.
The Computational Psychiatry Lab seeks to translate data-driven insights into clinical tools for personalized diagnosis and treatment optimization.
