Claus Bech-Danielsen is a Professor at the Department of the Built Environment, Faculty of Engineering and Science, Aalborg Universitet. His research focuses on urban planning, social housing, architectural anthropology, and the transformation of disadvantaged housing areas. He leads and collaborates on projects addressing urban renewal, social inclusion, and policy evaluation, including initiatives funded by Realdania and Landsbyggefonden. His work combines architectural analysis with sociocultural perspectives, emphasizing the interplay between built environments and societal dynamics. Bech-Danielsen has supervised six PhD students and holds awards such as the Den Danske Erhvervsforskerpris (2005) and the Den Europæiske Solpris (1998).
Key projects include the DASH initiative (Delivering Safe and Social Housing) and evaluations of Danish marginalized housing areas (e.g., Finlandsparken, Gellerupparken). His research often explores how physical renovation and urban design impact social cohesion and quality of life.
