Claudio Parolo

Claudio Parolo is an Associated Researcher in Prof. Muñoz’s group at the University of Barcelona, focusing on rapid diagnostic tests for travel medicine, including lateral flow assays and electrochemical sensors for malaria, strongyloidiasis, and dengue. He holds a PhD from the Autonomous University of Barcelona (2013) in Biotechnology, with postdoctoral experience at UCL, UC Santa Barbara, and the Catalan Institute of Nanoscience (via Marie Sklodowska-Curie and Beatriu de Pinós fellowships).

His research interests emphasize biosensor development, particularly integrating nanomaterials and smartphone-enabled technologies for point-of-care diagnostics. Key areas include malaria biomarker quantification, helminth detection, and optimizing lateral flow assay sensitivity through architecture and conjugate modifications.
