Lancaster Universityمعرفی
Claudio Paoloni is a Professor of Electronics and Cockcroft Chair at the School of Engineering, Lancaster University. He has held leadership roles including Head of Engineering Department and first Head of School of Engineering from July 2015 to July 2022.
- Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy
- IEEE Electron Devices Society Distinguished Lecturer
- Associate Editor of IEEE Transactions on Microwave Theory and Techniques
- Vice Chair of IEEE Electron Devices Society Region 8
- Member of IEEE Vacuum Electronics Technical Committee
Research Interests include vacuum electron devices for millimeter wave and THz frequencies, THz applications in plasma diagnostics, healthcare, and high-speed communications, microfabrication processes, novel slow wave structures, Monolithic Microwave Integrated Circuits (MMIC), and advanced manufacturing. He leads the Electronic Engineering group and pioneered the TWT Fab distributed laboratory for sub-THz Traveling Wave Tube fabrication in Europe.
Publication Trends focus on microwave engineering, THz technology, and wireless communication advancements, particularly targeting 5G/6G networks, high-capacity satellite links, and sustainable electromagnetic interference shielding solutions. His work emphasizes double corrugated waveguides and traveling wave tube innovations for applications up to 1 THz.
Scientific Awards include:
- IEEE Senior Membership
- Senior Fellowship from the Higher Education Academy
- Distinguished Lecturer status from IEEE Electron Devices Society
PhD Supervision involves projects on design and fabrication of millimeter-wave/sub-THz devices for 6G networks. He has coordinated major EU Horizon 2020 projects:
- TWEETHER (€3.3M) for W-band wireless networks
- ULTRAWAVE (€3M) for >100 GHz wireless systems
Labs & Teams include TWT Fab (sub-THz TWT fabrication), Cockcroft Institute (accelerator science), and Security Lancaster (network security research).
