Claudio Greco is a Lecturer (Ricercatore) at the Laboratory of Molecular Modelling (LMM) within Milan-Bicocca University since November 2012. Previously, he worked as a junior scientist in Prof. Sauer's group at Humboldt University Berlin, where he was affiliated with the AG Quantenchemie department. His research focuses on theoretical bioinorganic chemistry, including hybrid quantum-classical modeling of metalloenzymes, quantum chemical studies of biomimetic compounds, and bioinformatic analysis of protein structures.
Greco has contributed to the UniCat Research Fields D1, D3, and E3 between 2011-2012, focusing on catalytic systems and biomimetic models. His recent publications (2011-2017) emphasize catalytic dioxygen reduction, hydrogenase mechanisms, and transition metal complex reactivity. Notable contributions include studies on hexanuclear cobalt complexes for oxygen reduction and iron-sulfur cluster interactions in hydrogenases.
- Awards: Clara Immerwahr Awardee, Einstein Fellow
His work bridges computational chemistry and experimental findings, with emphasis on enzyme-inspired catalyst design and electronic structure analysis. Greco currently holds an academic position in Milan while maintaining ties to Berlin's quantum chemistry community.
