Claudio G. Giraudo is an Associate Professor in the Department of Microbiology & Immunology at the College of Life Sciences, Thomas Jefferson University, based at the Bluemle Life Sciences Building in Philadelphia, PA.
His research centers on the molecular basis of Primary Immune Deficiencies (PIDs), particularly Familial Hemophagocytic Lymphohistiocytosis (f-HLH), and cytotoxic immune responses in Very Early Onset Inflammatory Bowel Disease (VEO-IBD). He employs multidisciplinary approaches including biochemical reconstitution, proteomics, biophysical analysis, live-cell imaging, STED super-resolution microscopy, and TIRF microscopy to study membrane fusion mechanisms in cytotoxic T-lymphocytes and NK cells.
Dr. Giraudo directs the Center for Immune Disorders & Human Translational Immunology (CIDHTI), which provides diagnostic support, genetic testing, and functional assays for rare immune disorders through an IRB-approved patient sample repository. The center collaborates globally with clinicians to identify molecular defects and develop targeted therapies for immune dysregulation disorders.
