Claudia Hofmann

Prof. Dr. Claudia Hofmann holds the Chair of Public Law and European Social Law with a focus on interdisciplinary social law research at the European University Viadrina Frankfurt (Oder), Faculty of Law. Previously, she was Chair of Public Law (Social Law focus) at Goethe University Frankfurt (2018-2021). She studied law in Munich, completing her doctorate at the University of Kassel on international social standards' impact on South Africa's social security systems. Her habilitation addressed inequality in international, European, and national law.

Research Focus: Her interdisciplinary work spans constitutional law (German/foreign), social law, international law, European law, migration law, sociology of law, and comparative law. Current investigations include socio-economic human rights implementation and refugee integration frameworks.

Teaching: Extensive experience includes courses in constitutional law, state organization, human rights, international social standards, and EU labor law at universities in Regensburg, Kassel, and Frankfurt.

Leadership: Oversees research team and secretariat at Viadrina. Organizes academic initiatives including the Frankfurt Talks on Social Law lecture series.
