Claudia Califano

Claudia Califano serves as Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer, Control, and Management Engineering at Sapienza University of Rome. She maintains active research collaborations internationally, most recently as a visiting professor at Centrale Nantes' Laboratory of Digital Sciences of Nantes (LS2N) from January 9–16, 2022, hosted by CNRS senior researcher Claude Moog.

Her pioneering research applies Automatic Control engineering tools to analyze information dynamics on social networks, drawing critical parallels with epidemiological virus spread models first theorized in 1964. This interdisciplinary work bridges Control Engineering, Digital Humanities, and Social Network Theory, focusing on developing frameworks to identify, analyze, and control information flow patterns through computational modeling.

During her LS2N collaboration, she advanced methodologies for quantifying "epidemiological" similarities between viral transmission and digital information propagation, establishing new pathways for controlling misinformation spread through control-theoretic interventions. Her work represents a significant cross-disciplinary innovation at the intersection of engineering and social sciences.
