Clarisse Barbier is a Professor of French and Intro to Humanity at Howard University. She holds a Master's and Ph.D. in Applied Anthropology from the University of South Florida. Her research focuses on social exclusion, particularly women accused of witchcraft in African societies, as evidenced by her 2017 Fulbright-funded study in Burkina Faso. She has also served as a consultant for NGOs in Uganda and Burkina Faso, contributing to human rights and development initiatives.

Research Interests:
Barbier’s work bridges anthropology, gender studies, and African studies.
