Clare Wiseman is an Associate Professor at the School of the Environment, University of Toronto, with cross-appointments to the Dalla Lana School of Public Health and the Department of Physical and Environmental Sciences (Scarborough). Her research focuses on traffic-related metal and metalloid emissions, road dust contaminants, and their human health implications in urban settings.
Education
- PhD, University of Frankfurt
- MA, Simon Fraser University
- BSc, University of Waterloo
Research Interests
- Characterization of elemental enrichment patterns in road dust (2018–present)
- Assessment of respiratory health risks from metal-bearing particles (2015–present)
- Urban gardening and contaminant exposure pathways
Her work is funded by NSERC (Discovery Grant RGPIN-2018-05966) and Health Canada, contributing to Canada’s Chemicals Management Plan and OECD initiatives on nanomaterials. Recent publications emphasize urban dust geochemistry, mercury exposure sources, and inhalation bioaccessibility of toxic metals.
