معرفی
Dr Clare Wilson is a Senior Lecturer in Biological and Environmental Sciences at the University of Stirling. She has been a faculty member since 2008 and assumed her current role in 2016. In addition to her teaching responsibilities, she serves as Associate Dean of Learning and Teaching, overseeing quality assurance and strategic initiatives to enhance student outcomes. Her research focuses on soil resilience, soil responses to disturbance across timescales, and linking microscale processes to landscape-scale soil function. She investigates the legacy of past human activities on soil properties and environmental sustainability.
Dr Wilson’s expertise spans geochemistry, micromorphology, and interdisciplinary approaches to understanding human-environment interactions. She has held external roles as an External Examiner for Ulster University’s BSc Environmental Science and Scotland’s Rural College (SRUC)’s MSc programs. She leads the EU COST Action SAGA (CA17131) as Working Group Leader for Knowledge Creation, Exchange & Development, and is an active member of the CEDHE and SAGES committees.
Her research integrates techniques like SEM-EDS, XRF, and mobile metal ion (MMI) geochemistry to study anthropogenic impacts on soils, including historical land management practices and contamination. Recent work explores soil legacies of illicit whisky production, Norse Greenland settlements, and Roman archaeological sites. Over her career, she has contributed to over 47 publications, advancing understanding of soil science, environmental archaeology, and sustainable land use.
