Clare Wang is the Tony Tisone Estate Memorial Business Fellowship Professor and Faculty Director of the Center for Ethics and Social Responsibility at the Leeds School of Business, University of Colorado Boulder. She is a prominent scholar in the field of accounting with expertise in financial reporting, capital markets, and corporate disclosure practices.
Dr. Wang received both her B.S. and Ph.D. degrees from the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania. Prior to her academic career, she gained practical experience working in the investment banking division at Goldman Sachs.
Her research examines the critical roles that legal, regulatory, and financial reporting regimes play in capital markets and corporate activities. She has made significant contributions to understanding how emerging forms of disclosure, such as corporate accountability reporting and social media platforms, impact market participants. Her work spans several key areas including ESG reporting, investor behavior, regulatory compliance, and the interplay between financial information and market efficiency.
Analysis of Dr. Wang's recent publications reveals a strong focus on voluntary disclosure practices, particularly how investors process and respond to different types of corporate information. Her work increasingly examines the integration of ESG factors into traditional financial analysis, the regulatory implications of disclosure practices, and the strategic use of communication channels by firms. She has published extensively in top-tier accounting journals including the Journal of Accounting Research, Journal of Accounting and Economics, and The Accounting Review.

Dr. Wang is actively involved in teaching and academic service. She currently teaches the introductory managerial accounting course (BCOR 2303) at Leeds and has previously taught intermediate financial accounting courses in both MBA and undergraduate programs. Her teaching reflects her research expertise, helping students understand the practical applications of accounting principles in real-world business contexts.
As Faculty Director of the Center for Ethics and Social Responsibility, Dr. Wang plays a key leadership role in advancing the integration of ethical considerations and social responsibility into business education and practice at the Leeds School of Business.
