Clare Calveley

Clare Calveley is a Senior Lecturer in Textiles in Practice at Manchester School of Art, Manchester Metropolitan University. As Level 6 Year Leader and Design Department Graduate Outcomes Champion, she focuses on digital transformation in textile education and industry preparation. Her practice-led research explores virtual/material intersections, particularly digital tools for sustainable textile production.

Key initiatives include:

• Real-time 3D viewing/editing app development with Swatcheditor for sustainable manufacturing
• Student industry projects with Crown Paints, Hallmark, and Material Source Studio

Research exhibitions include Milan Design Week (2023), British Textile Biennial (2021, 2023), and Innovate UK KTN's Digital Modernisation event (2023). Professional memberships span UKFT, Society of Dyers and Colourists, Arts Emergency, and Future Fashion Factory.
