Cintia Velazquez Marroni is a full-time lecturer and researcher at the Instituto de Investigaciones Dr. José María Luis Mora in Mexico City. She holds a Doctorate in Museum Studies from the University of Leicester (UK), a Master's in Museology from ENCRYM-INAH, and a Bachelor's in History from UNAM. Her research focuses on Critical Heritage Studies, Environmental Humanities, and Museum Studies.
Her work bridges academic research and museum practice, with particular emphasis on:
- Memorial museums and their role in social dialogue
- Historical consciousness in Mexican society
- Environmental challenges to cultural heritage
- Visitor experience in history museums
Key contributions include studies on the Tlatelolco Memorial's impact, the role of objects in museum experiences, and the intersection of heritage conservation with contemporary environmental issues.
Her recent research (2025) explores rethinking cultural heritage in the Anthropocene era through case studies of glaciers, axolotls, and refineries. Earlier works (2020-2017) analyze difficult heritage narratives and museum visitor behavior in Mexico.
