Cindy Quik

Cindy Quik is a Lecturer in Soil Geography and Landscape at Wageningen University & Research. Her research focuses on peatland dynamics, geochronology, and Holocene environmental changes. She leads projects on spatiotemporal bog developments and has contributed to studies on human-landscape interactions in northern Europe.

Her work integrates archaeological and environmental data, including peat initiation studies, legacy data analysis, and vegetation dynamics. Key projects include the Reconstructing Holocene Spatiotemporal Bog Developments initiative (2017–2023), which involved interdisciplinary collaboration and produced datasets on meandering systems and peatland expansion.

Quik has published on topics such as human remains deposition in mires, drowning landscapes, and peatland formation mechanisms. She actively engages in academic activities, including lectures on paleogeographic research and media contributions discussing Dutch peatlands' environmental challenges.
