Ciao-Wei Chen

Ciao-Wei Chen is an Associate Professor of Accountancy and PwC Faculty Fellow at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign's Gies College of Business. He holds a Ph.D. in Accounting from the University of Iowa (2015), an M.Acc. from the same institution (2008), and a B.A. in Accounting from National Taiwan University (2006). His research focuses on financial reporting, mergers and acquisitions, taxation, and corporate finance, with a particular emphasis on the real effects of accounting policies and information asymmetry.

Chen has taught courses in advanced financial accounting, financial statement analysis, and intermediate accounting at institutions such as the University of Illinois, the University of Washington, and the University of Iowa. He consistently receives high instructor ratings, averaging 4.6/5.0 at Gies since 2017.

His research has been presented at major conferences including the American Accounting Association Annual Meetings, Journal of Accounting Research Conferences, and Contemporary Accounting Research Conferences. He serves on academic committees such as the Faculty Grievance Committee at Gies and is a reviewer for top journals like the Journal of Accounting Research and The Accounting Review.
