Chunrong Liu is a Professor of Political Science at Fudan University and Managing Director of the Fudan-European Centre for China Studies (FECCS) at the University of Oslo. He holds a PhD in Sociology from the City University of Hong Kong (2005) and conducted postdoctoral research at Georgetown University. His research focuses on political sociology, comparative politics, and China studies, with particular attention to state-society relations, local governance in post-reform China, and China-Nordic cooperation.
His work examines dynamics such as data governance, community-based eldercare, and the interplay between China's domestic policies and foreign engagement. Liu has authored/co-authored influential publications on topics ranging from China's regulatory state to Nordic welfare models. He has edited volumes on aged care, urban governance, and China-EU relations, and his research bridges theoretical insights with empirical fieldwork in China and Europe.
Key contributions include analyses of China's internet governance frameworks, policy implementation challenges in provincial contexts, and the evolving role of civil society. His interdisciplinary approach integrates political theory, sociology, and public policy analysis to address contemporary governance challenges.
