Chrysoula Tsogka is a Professor in the Department of Applied Mathematics at the University of California Merced since August 2017. She is also a Visiting Professor in the Department of Mathematics at Stanford University since February 2016, while on leave from the University of Crete. Her academic journey includes roles at the University of Crete (2007-2016), University of Chicago (2004-2006), and earlier positions in France, including a CNRS Researcher at LMA (2001-2003).
- Education: Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics from University Paris IX (1996-1999) under advisor Patrick Joly, M.S. in Applied Mathematics from University Paris IX (1995-1996), and B.Eng. in Chemical Engineering from NTUA (1990-1995).
Research Interests: She focuses on mathematical and numerical modeling of wave propagation in complex media, inverse problems, time reversal methods, finite element methods, seismic imaging, and computational mathematics. Her work has applications in non-destructive material testing, sonar, radar, and seismic imaging.
Teaching: She has taught courses on numerical solutions of PDEs/ODEs, mathematical methods of imaging, finite element methods, and numerical modeling at institutions like UC Merced, Stanford, and University of Crete.
Honors & Affiliations: Currently serves on editorial boards of SIAM Journal on Imaging Sciences, Journal of Mathematical Imaging and Vision, and the Bulletin of the Greek Mathematical Society. Affiliated with the American Institute of Mathematics (AIM) since 2017.
