Christos Skourlas is a Professor at the Department of Informatics and Computer Engineering, School of Engineering, University of West Attica (formerly Technological Educational Institute of Athens), where he has served since 1989. He holds a PhD in Informatics and a Mathematics degree from the University of Athens, with prior experience at Greece's National Documentation Center (1983-89) and NCSR "Demokritos" (1977-82).

Research Interests: His work spans Information Retrieval, Databases, Knowledge Management, Cross Language Information Retrieval, Personalization, Medical Informatics, Assistive Technology for Students with Special Needs, Pervasive/Mobile Computing, and Security. Research emphasizes practical applications in information systems, educational accessibility, and secure mobile environments, particularly for disabled students in higher education.
Projects & Grants: As coordinator and principal investigator, he led European/national R&D projects including the ESPA-funded "New Digital Services at TEI of Athens" initiative for students with special needs, which deployed the PyLes assistive platform. His laboratory work drives applied research in information management systems.
Laboratory: Heads the "Data, Information and Knowledge Management (InfoDat_KM)" laboratory, serving as the central hub for his research activities, project execution, and technology development in information systems.
