Dr Christos Argyropoulos is a Lecturer in Finance at the Essex Business School (EBS) within the University of Essex. He holds a PhD in Finance from the University of Kent (2017) and an MSc in Actuarial Science and Risk Management from the University of Piraeus (2012). His research focuses on Financial Econometrics, Financial Forecasting, and Alternative Investments, with a strong emphasis on risk modeling and regulatory frameworks.
He has held academic appointments at Lancaster University (2017–2020) and the University of Essex (briefly in 2017). Currently, he teaches courses such as Empirical Finance, Alternative Investments, and Research Methods in Financial Econometrics. He supervises doctoral research, including Daniel Brockwell’s thesis on volatility forecasting and uncertainty shocks in non-ferrous metals markets.
Dr Argyropoulos’ publications span topics like hedge fund risk analysis, macroprudential regulation of mutual funds, and freight rate volatility modeling. He actively contributes to financial econometric methodologies and their practical applications in risk management.
