Christopher Zirnig is a Researcher at the Department of Sociology within the Faculty of Business, Economics and Social Sciences at the University of Hohenheim, where he has been working since March 2015. His research focuses on the sociological implications of digital transformation, particularly examining how technological advancements reshape work organization and social structures.
Dr. Zirnig's educational background includes a Master of Arts in Sociology from Albert Ludwig University of Freiburg (2012-2015) and a Bachelor of Arts in Social Sciences from the University of Augsburg (2009-2012). Prior to his position at Hohenheim, he worked as a Research Assistant at the Max Planck Institute for Foreign and International Criminal Law and the Chair of Security Research at the University of Freiburg.
His primary research interests encompass Digitalization, Big Data applications, Work Organization, Vocational Education, Social Change, and AI Ethics. Dr. Zirnig investigates how datafication and artificial intelligence impact workplace structures, employee qualifications, and social inequalities, with particular attention to human-centered approaches that preserve worker autonomy and well-being in technologically transformed environments.
