Christopher Williams

Christopher Williams is the L.S. Randolph Professor of Mechanical Engineering at Virginia Tech's College of Engineering. He leads the DREAMS Lab, focusing on additive manufacturing (3D printing) research and education. His work spans material development, process innovation, and cyber-physical security in manufacturing. Williams holds affiliate roles in Materials Science and Engineering Education. He has authored over 200 publications, secured $25M+ in grants, and advised numerous graduate students.

Education: PhD (2007), MS (2003) from Georgia Tech; BS (2000) from University of Florida.

Research interests include additive manufacturing materials, design methodologies, and education integration. Major achievements include NSF CAREER Award (2013), National Academy of Inventors Senior Member (2022), and leadership in industry partnerships (e.g., NASA projects).
