Dr. Christopher Vincent is an Associate Professor in the Department of Horticultural Sciences at the University of Florida's Citrus Research and Education Center. His program focuses on improving productivity of citrus crops in Florida through understanding plant adaptive characteristics in humid sub-tropical environments, particularly addressing Huanglongbing (greening) disease.
- Primary Research Area: Citrus physiology under stress conditions
- Key Focus: Carbon allocation, water relations, and disease tolerance mechanisms
His research program addresses critical challenges in Florida's citrus industry, including:
- Shade and water acclimation in citrus trees
- Thermotolerance in perennial crops
- Huanglongbing disease management
- Root hair phenotyping for functional traits
- Photoselective particle films for crop protection
Dr. Vincent's recent publications reveal trends in:
- Developing innovative crop management strategies
- Understanding phloem/xylem transport dynamics
- Exploring antibiotic delivery methods for disease control
- Evaluating root:shoot balance in citrus growth
Program members include:
- Biological Scientists: Gillian Bergman, Myrtho Pierre
- Students: Dorcas Alade (PhD), Rashmi Kumari (PhD), Muna Aryal (MS)
- Postdocs: Maryam Khalilzadeh, Waqar Shafqat
