Christopher Sellers, MD, MPH serves as an Assistant Professor of Medicine at the University of North Carolina School of Medicine within the Department of Medicine, Division of Infectious Diseases. He holds significant leadership positions as both the Medical Director for the Wake County Health Department's HIV, PrEP, and STI clinics and Program Director of the UNC Infectious Diseases Fellowship Program.
His primary areas of expertise include HIV, sexually transmitted infections, and tropical diseases. Dr. Sellers focuses on improving outcomes for individuals living with or at risk for HIV, particularly in under-resourced domestic settings. His research aims to translate the promise of highly effective HIV medications into practical successes in HIV care and prevention through clinic-based implementation.
Dr. Sellers is deeply committed to medical education and strengthening the academic pipeline in infectious diseases. As Program Director of the Infectious Diseases Fellowship Program, he recruits, mentors, and works alongside fellows as they develop diverse and impactful careers across the field of infectious diseases.
His clinical work at the Wake County Human Services ID Clinic involves direct patient care, program development and implementation, and collaboration with a dedicated team of professionals focused on HIV, PrEP, and STI services.
