معرفی
Dr. Christopher Mulholland is a Researcher at Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München, affiliated with the Department of Human Biology and BioImaging. He is part of Prof. Heinrich Leonhardt's research group, focusing on epigenetic mechanisms, DNA methylation dynamics, and pluripotency regulation in mammalian systems. His work bridges molecular biology, developmental biology, and genomics to understand how epigenetic factors influence cellular identity and function.
Research interests include:
- Role of TET proteins in DNA demethylation and gene regulation
- Epigenetic control of pluripotency transitions (naïve to primed states)
- Mechanisms of DNA methylation maintenance via DNMT1 and UHRF1
- Functional implications of chromatin organization and spatial gene arrangement
- Evolutionary aspects of epigenetic pathways in mammals
Recent publications (2022–2020) highlight his contributions to understanding DPPA3-UHRF1 interactions, TET-driven demethylation pathways, and the spatial organization of transcribed genes. His studies often integrate biochemical, genomic, and cell biological approaches to dissect epigenetic networks in stem cells and disease contexts.
Dr. Mulholland has collaborated on projects involving Alzheimer’s disease epigenetics and therapeutic modulation of bone marrow stromal cells using azacitidine. He has developed innovative experimental platforms for functional studies under physiological conditions, aiding high-throughput screening and mechanistic insights.
