Christopher Misun

Christopher Misun serves as a Lecturer in the Department of Communication at Mississippi State University, where he has held a full-time teaching position since 2019. Originally from Ashland, Wisconsin, Misun began his association with MSU in 2014 as a consultant for the MSU-Meridian Campus before transitioning to teaching at that location in 2015. He later moved to the Starkville campus, initially serving as a senior producer at MSU's University Television Center before accepting his current instructional role.

Misun earned his associate's degree in film and video production, bachelor's in entertainment business, and master's in new media journalism from Full Sail University in Winter Park, Florida. He is currently pursuing a second master's degree at Mississippi State University in instructional technology with an emphasis in multimedia, building upon his first master's degree obtained in 2012.

His teaching specialty focuses on practical video production techniques and broadcast communication, with particular expertise in sports broadcasting. Misun works with Take 30 News, the capstone course for the communication department's broadcast concentration, and has developed a sports broadcasting production course that partners with Hail State Productions' Broadcast Operations to provide students with hands-on internship opportunities. He emphasizes creating an engaging classroom environment where students can grasp complex production concepts while maintaining an enjoyable learning atmosphere.

Professionally, Misun serves as director of the 25th annual Magnolia Independent Film Festival ("The Mag"), recognized as Mississippi's first and longest-running film festival, which brings distinctive independent cinema to the Golden Triangle region. He also works as a camera operator for Hail State Broadcast Operations, specializing in the "hero" camera that captures close-up shots of athletes following significant game moments.
