Christopher Megone is a Professor of Inter-Disciplinary Applied Ethics at the University of Leeds, affiliated with the School of Philosophy, Religion and History of Science within the Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Cultures. He holds leadership roles, including Director of the Inter-Disciplinary Ethics Applied (IDEA) Centre and former roles as Faculty Knowledge Transfer Director (2006–2011) and Faculty International Director (2012–2017).
His education includes a Classics degree from Oxford, followed by a BPhil and DPhil in Philosophy, also at Oxford. Prior to Leeds, he taught at the University of York (1983–1991).
Research focuses on medical ethics, business ethics, professional ethics, moral psychology, and neo-Aristotelian ethics. Notable works include Case Histories in Business Ethics (2002), contributions to neonatal research ethics, and consultancy with professional bodies like the Institute of Chartered Accountants and Banking Standards Board.
Megone is a National Teaching Fellow (2007) and has developed interdisciplinary programs such as the MA in Biomedical and Healthcare Ethics. His research explores practical wisdom, virtue ethics, and ethics in banking and finance.
He supervises postgraduate students and teaches undergraduate and postgraduate courses in ethics, ancient philosophy, and professional ethics.
