Christopher M. Lawson

Dr. Christopher M. Lawson is a Professor of Physics and Executive Director of Alabama EPSCoR at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. With expertise in nonlinear optics and optical sensors, he has published over 70 journal articles and 10 books/chapters. Lawson secures significant research funding from agencies including NSF, ARO, AFOSR, NASA, and Alabama state programs.

As Director of the Alabama Graduate Research Scholars Program, he has overseen the graduation of 221 PhD and 73 Master's students. Lawson previously chaired the national Coalition of EPSCoR/IDEA States and has testified before U.S. congressional committees on research investment strategies.
