Christopher M. Jermaine is the Chair of the Department of Computer Science and Victor E. Cameron Professor of Computer Science at Rice University. He also directs the Master of Data Science Program within the George R. Brown School of Engineering. Previously, he was on the faculty at the University of Florida from 2002 to 2010 before joining Rice in 2009.
Education: BA in Mathematics from UC San Diego (1994), MSc in Computer Science from The Ohio State University (1997), and PhD in Computer Science from Georgia Institute of Technology.
Research focuses on data analytics, systems-oriented challenges in managing large datasets, and statistical methods for heterogeneous data. He teaches courses including database systems, algorithms, and data science tools.
- Awards: ACM SIGMOD/SIGKDD Best Paper Awards, NSF CAREER, Sloan Fellowship.
- Teaching: Applications of Discrete Structures, Database Systems, Data Science Models.
His career spans over two decades in academia, with significant contributions to database systems and data management research.
