Christopher Lemieux is an Associate Professor and John McMurry Research Chair in Environmental Geography at Wilfrid Laurier University's Faculty of Science. He specializes in natural resources policy, parks management, biodiversity conservation, and tourism sustainability. His research focuses on climate change adaptation strategies, human health benefits of nature contact, and the governance of protected areas.
Key research themes include evaluating climate change impacts on protected areas, integrating health into conservation policy, and enhancing equity in conservation practices. He leads projects on nature prescription programs, OECM effectiveness, and coastal biodiversity frameworks. His work often bridges academic research with policy implementation, emphasizing actionable solutions for environmental challenges.
Dr. Lemieux has authored over 60 publications, with recent work addressing topics like Lyme disease risk communication in parks and ethical considerations in conservation volunteerism. His research highlights the interplay between ecological integrity, human well-being, and sustainable development goals.
