Christopher Kul Want

Dr. Christopher Kul Want is a Lecturer and MRes Art Course Leader at Central Saint Martins, University of the Arts London. He leads the Art Theory and Philosophy pathway, focusing on the intersections of philosophy, politics, and the arts. His academic career includes teaching at Goldsmiths' College and Byam Shaw School of Art, where he established the Masters course in Fine Art in 2000.

He earned his education in art history and theory at Manchester University, followed by postgraduate research at the University of Greenwich on Nietzsche's 'Will to Power as Art'. His research spans continental philosophy, psychoanalysis, and critical theory, particularly in relation to art, visual culture, cinema, and contemporary societal trends like addictive disorders.

His notable publications include Philosophers on Film (2019), Introducing Continental Philosophy (2013), and Philosophers on Art (2010). He supervises postgraduate students across diverse topics such as climate change narratives, post-capitalist design philosophy, and psychoanalytic approaches to art.

Dr. Kul Want actively contributes to research groups at Central Saint Martins, including convening the Art & Philosophy Research Group and participating in the Practices of Writing and Publishing group. His work emphasizes interdisciplinary collaboration and critical inquiry in artistic practice.
