Christopher Jones

Christopher Jones is a Research Fellow at the University of Manchester, serving as the Knowledge Exchange Fellow for the Tyndall Centre for Climate Change Research and co-director of Tyndall Manchester. His work bridges academic expertise with practical applications in industry, government, and civil society, focusing on climate change mitigation and adaptation. He holds a PhD, MA, and BA, with prior experience as an energy market analyst.

Research interests include Life Cycle Assessment, Renewable Energy, Energy Storage, and Low Carbon Heating. He leads projects like the ZEVI Shore Power Aberdeen initiative and contributes to global efforts such as the International Chamber of Shipping partnership. Notable collaborations involve analyzing hydrogen’s role in energy systems and advising on port emissions reduction.

Key outputs include guides for city-level decarbonization, policy responses to maritime emissions, and studies on ammonia as aviation fuel. Jones has engaged with diverse stakeholders, including local authorities and festivals, to advance climate action. His work aligns with UN SDGs 7 (Affordable Energy), 11 (Sustainable Cities), 13 (Climate Action), and 15 (Life on Land).
