Christopher J. Bettinger

Christopher J. Bettinger is Professor of Biomedical Engineering and Materials Science & Engineering at Carnegie Mellon University's College of Engineering. He directs the Laboratory for Therapeutic Biodegradable Microsystems, focusing on biomaterials innovation for medical applications.

Research Focus: His group develops biodegradable microsystems for rehabilitation and regeneration, including electronic devices that safely dissolve in the body. Key research thrusts include:

• BioMEMS for tissue regeneration
• Biodegradable electronic implants
• Biomimetic tissue-device interfaces
• Non-conventional biomaterials fabrication

Interdisciplinary approaches combine polymer science, microfabrication, and bioelectronics.
