Christopher Hunter is an Associate Professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Rhode Island, where he has been affiliated since at least 1993. His work focuses on transportation systems, particularly traffic and transit operations, intelligent transportation systems, and traffic safety.
- Education: Ph.D. (2000) and M.S. (1993) in Transportation Engineering from the University of Washington; B.S. (1989) in Physics from Morehouse College.
Research Interests include electric vehicle efficiency, intermodal transportation planning, and environmental impacts on urban mobility. Recent publications analyze road type effects on EV energy consumption, traffic dynamics influencing EV performance, and hurricane risk assessment for coastal communities.
Notable Trends in his work emphasize sustainable transportation solutions, integrating energy efficiency with traffic modeling, and assessing climate-related risks for infrastructure planning.
