Christopher Halsted

Christopher Halsted is a Lecturer in the Department of History at the University of Maryland, College Park, affiliated with the College of Arts and Humanities. He holds a B.A. in History and Latin from Oberlin College, an M.A. in History from the University of Virginia, and a Ph.D. in History from the University of Virginia.

His research focuses on medieval European history, particularly the Ottonian Empire, Slavic territories, and medieval witchcraft narratives. Key themes include geopolitical discourse, historical ethnography, and textual analysis of medieval chronicles. Recent works explore the Annales Sangallenses maiores, the Canon Episcopi's evolution, and the portrayal of Slavic landscapes as 'civilizational frontiers.'
