Christopher Fischer

Christopher Fischer is a Professor in the Department of Physics & Astronomy at the University of Kansas since 2021. He has held progressively senior roles at the same institution since 2004, including Associate Professor (2010-2021) and Assistant Professor (2004-2010).

His research spans two distinct domains: physics education and social critique of academic policy. In education, he focuses on mathematics transference in introductory physics instruction, curriculum development, and alternative grading mechanisms that improve student mindset. His critical work examines how neo-fascist narratives attack DEI (Diversity, Equity, Inclusion) efforts in higher education to undermine public support for universities and federal agencies.

Publications highlight interdisciplinary work in molecular biophysics, with a focus on DNA translocation mechanisms by motor proteins like RSC, UvrD, and NS3h helicase. His team also investigates iron uptake mechanisms in bacterial proteins.
