Christopher Egert is a Professor in the School of Interactive Games and Media at the Golisano College of Computing and Information Sciences, Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT). He holds a BS and MS from RIT and a Ph.D. from the University at Buffalo. His work focuses on interdisciplinary approaches to game design education, integrating computing principles with creative arts to enhance STEM education and cultural heritage preservation.
His research interests span educational technology, virtual reality systems, and game preservation, with notable contributions to XML markup standards for XR content and pedagogical frameworks for collaborative development. Egert has led the MAGIC Center at RIT, emphasizing hands-on production experiences and industry-relevant training. He teaches courses in game development fundamentals, systems design, and graduate-level research methodologies.
Egert’s scholarship bridges technical and humanistic domains, including projects like MARLi for virtual environments and studies on digital heritage through gameplay.
