Christopher Daase

Professor Christopher Daase serves as Site Spokesperson, Principal Investigator, and Institute Council member at Goethe University Frankfurt's Research Institute for Social Cohesion (FGZ). His work centers on critical political science questions regarding democracy, conflict dynamics, and societal legitimacy within contemporary governance frameworks.

Daase's research program investigates how military conflicts fracture social cohesion (Project A_10), whether counter-terrorism measures inadvertently fuel racial discrimination (Project INRA_A04), and the tension between security imperatives and social unity (Project FRA_F_06). He employs rigorous qualitative methodologies to dissect polarization mechanisms and legitimacy crises in democratic systems, with particular attention to war's societal impacts and security policy trade-offs.

His recent publication analyzes the unraveling of the liberal world order through the lens of domination and institutional validity. Current projects demonstrate active grant funding through the FGZ consortium, focusing on urgent questions of democratic resilience amid geopolitical conflict and security exceptionalism.
