Christopher C.E. Tylor is a PhD Candidate and Adjunct Lecturer at the University of Southern Queensland, currently serving as an Assistant Examiner. His academic journey includes a German M.En. in Electrical Engineering, a Post Graduate Diploma in Journalism, and an M.Sc. in Astronomy from Swinburne University of Technology (2016). Transitioning from a commercial career managing international publishing companies, he now focuses on planetary astronomy.
Research Interests: Tylor investigates the dynamical evolution and long-term stability of Jupiter's satellite system, with particular emphasis on irregular moons, orbital mechanics, and celestial dynamics. His work explores how planetary systems acquire and maintain satellites through processes like capture and collisional fragmentation.
Publications: His notable contribution includes analyzing the discovery of Jupiter's 79th moon (S/2016 J 2, tentatively named Valetudo). This research highlights the moon's unique prograde orbit within a retrograde-dominant region, offering insights into post-formation satellite dynamics and ongoing collisional processes in the Jovian system.
