LTC Christopher Ardohain is a military intelligence officer and Lecturer at Purdue University's College of Agriculture, Department of Forestry and Natural Resources. With a Ph.D. in Forestry and dual expertise in deep learning and operations research, he applies artificial intelligence to environmental monitoring and defense applications. His military deployments in Iraq and Afghanistan include roles in route clearance operations and Village Stability Operations, complemented by a year-long industry assignment with MAXAR through the Army’s Training with Industry program.
- Education:
- Ph.D. in Forestry, Purdue University
- M.S. in Operations Research, Naval Postgraduate School
- B.S. in Geospatial Information Sciences, U.S. Military Academy (USMA)
Research Focus: Ardohain's work integrates deep learning and remote sensing technologies to solve ecological challenges in forestry and natural resource management. His current research emphasizes optimizing AI model performance through innovative training data strategies, with applications in invasive species detection and environmental monitoring using multispectral imagery.
Academic Contributions: Recent publications highlight his interdisciplinary approach, analyzing how spatial resolution impacts AI accuracy in remote sensing and developing frameworks for automated ecological analysis. His earlier work bridges military operations research with AI-driven threat detection systems.
Teaching: He serves as the primary instructor for GE373 (Advanced Geospatial Applications) and periodically teaches GE477/GE478, focusing on practical implementation of geospatial technologies in defense and environmental contexts.
