Christophe Serié is an Associate Professor (20% part-time) at the Department of Geosciences, University of Oslo, and Senior Exploration Geologist at AkerBP since 2019. Formerly with ConocoPhillips (2013-2019), he integrates academic and industry expertise in sedimentary basin analysis.
- Education: PhD (Petroleum Geoscience, University of Manchester, 2013), MSc (Petroleum Geosciences, University of Aberdeen, 2008), BSc (Earth Sciences, University of Victoria, 2006).
His research focuses on source-to-sink sedimentology, fluid flow studies, and predictive seismic stratigraphy. He pioneers integrated analyses of seismic data, seabed geochemistry, and satellite observations to interpret fluid flow phenomena along continental margins, with applications to energy transition, submarine geo-hazards, marine ecosystems, and climate change. His work also explores large sand injectites in deep-water depositional systems in the Austral-Magallanes Basin.
His recent publications emphasize Cretaceous turbidite systems, sand injection complexes, and fluid flow dynamics in continental margins. He teaches GEO4240 - Seismic Interpretation.
