Christophe Keita is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychology at McGill University. Previously, he was an Assistant Professor at Wake Forest University and a NICHD T32 Predoctoral Fellow at the Carolina Consortium on Human Development. He holds a B.A. in Psychology from Washington College (2017), an M.A. in Clinical Psychology from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro (2019), and a Ph.D. in Developmental Psychology (2021).
His research focuses on developmental science, examining the impact of discrimination on psychopathology and wellbeing among racially/ethnically minoritized and immigrant youth. He investigates culturally-informed coping strategies (e.g., shift-&-persist, religious coping) and parental ethnic-racial socialization as protective factors. Key populations include Black, Latinx, and Multiracial youth, with upcoming work on long-term discrimination impacts and developmental coping processes.
He leads the Cultural Developmental Science lab and is accepting graduate students for Fall 2025 admissions (deadline December 1st, 2024). His work emphasizes measurement innovation, particularly in culturally-relevant tools for minoritized communities.
