Dr. Christophe Dominik is a postdoctoral researcher in the Department of Community Ecology at the Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research (UFZ), Germany. His work focuses on understanding how landscape and land-use intensity influence pollinators and ecosystem services, with expertise in landscape ecology, pollination ecology, and agroecology. Dominik holds a Ph.D. in Natural Sciences (2019) from Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg and a M.Sc. in Biodiversity and Tropical Ecosystems (2011) from Université de La Réunion.
- Research Interests: Landscape ecology, macroecology, biological control, gut microbiome analysis, and R/data visualization.
- Key Projects: PoshBee (EU-funded pollinator health), RestPoll (pollinator habitat restoration), and MAMBO (biodiversity monitoring).
- Grants: Acquired €50.6k in research funding, including leadership roles in projects iNTERACT and iPATHOS.
His research bridges theoretical and applied ecology, addressing global challenges like pollinator decline and agroecosystem sustainability. Recent work highlights the impact of pesticide exposure on bumblebee colonies and the role of landscape heterogeneity in maintaining pollinator communities.
- Scientific Awards: 2022 UFZ Performance Bonus for Special Achievements.
- Advising: Supervised 4 PhD students and 5 Master’s students, including Jonna Heuschele (main supervisor) and Simon Wogram (co-supervisor).
