Christophe Bressac is a Researcher at the University of Tours, affiliated with the Department of Agrosciences - Animal Production sector and the UMR CNRS 7261 - Insect Biology Research Institute (IRBI). He holds administrative roles including leading the IMIP research team (Interactions between Microbes, Insects and Plants), overseeing the Master's in Biology-Agrosciences and a professional degree in livestock product development, and serving on the National Council of Universities (CNU) section 68 and the National Commission of Research Teachers (CNECA). He is also a member of the World Poultry Science Association (WPSA) and the European Institute for the History and Culture of Food (IEHCA).
His research focuses on post-copulatory sexual selection mechanisms in insects, particularly sperm competition and cryptic female choice. Using microscopy and fluorescent markers, he studies anatomical adaptations in species like Drosophila, parasitoid wasps (Braconidae/Pteromalidae), and the black soldier fly (Hermetia illucens), examining sperm morphology, testes size, and female sperm storage organs (spermathecae). His work bridges evolutionary biology with practical applications in agro-food systems.
Bressac teaches biology and zootechnics in vocational training programs, integrating fieldwork, company visits, and project-based learning to prepare students for professional roles. His courses emphasize methodology synthesis and rapid workplace integration, supported by a network of industry partners.
